About me

Hello, my name is Hazel and I am a self taught artist from Scotland. I loved art in my childhood but hadn’t done much since. Fast forward 30 years or so and I joined my local Art Club and found my self picking up coloured pencils and absolutely loved them. I love the control you have with them, the colours, the ability to correct, but especially the detail you can achieve with them.

I am mum to 2 amazing children, mum to Ruby the naughty Tibetan Spaniel, step-mum to Fitz the fluffy cat and live in Dundee with my partner Jim.

Besides drawing and painting, I like needle felting, beachcombing for sea glass and being out in nature. Anything crafty I’ll have a go at! My weekends are usually spent on walks, exploring the countryside and coastal towns with Jim and Ruby.

I specialise in Pet and animal portraits but also draw and paint people, landscapes and still life.

Aside from coloured pencils, I work in graphite, soft pastels and have recently started working with oils, which I am enjoying very much.
